In Tahoe this week I woke up early to photograph the sunrise over a beautiful, snowy meadow. I arrived with the hopes of catching the morning color, getting some nice landscape photographs and possibly some birds. What I didn't expect to photograph was this handsome coyote. It startled me at first, as it emerged from the trees about 50 yards away, but it showed zero interest in me and fortunately stayed around long enough for me to document the sighting. Leaving me, once again, completely humbled by nature and all it's animals. "Wilderness is not only a haven for native plants and animals but it is also a refuge from society. Its a place to go to hear the wind and little else, see the stars and the galaxies, smell the pine trees, feel the cold water, touch the sky and the ground at the same time, listen to coyotes, eat the fresh snow, walk across the desert sands, and realize why its good to go outside of the city and the suburbs." -John Muir
