You didn't think I was done photographing hawks, did you?! This felt like a special one. What excited me most is that most hawks that I see are either perched on a telephone pole or power line. It's pretty rare to see them on something natural, from my experience. When I spotted this one I was practically holding my breath while getting my camera ready, fully expecting the hawk to fly away before I was able to snap a shot. To my good fortune, it stayed perched long enough for me to capture its beauty.
“In many traditions, hawks are sacred: Apollo’s messengers for the Greeks, sun symbols for the ancient Egyptians and, in the case of the Lakota Sioux, embodiments of clear vision, speed and single-minded dedication.”
