Photo of the week - oct 17, 2018

One of the things I love about this whole Photo of the Week newsletter I started is that it forces me to get out of the house and search for beautiful things to photograph. I'm adventuring more these days and have been seeing some pretty neat stuff in the process. Like this owl, for example. It actually startled the heck out of me at first. I was creeping through a grove of trees to try and get a photograph of a pelican in the water, when above me this massive noise rises up. It was the owl making a fast getaway (I had clearly invaded it's space without realizing it). Fortunately, it didn't go far and perched in a nearby tree, where it graciously let me approach (very slowly), to document it's beauty to share with you.
