Is this the fattest ground squirrel to ever exist? Quite possibly. I spotted this chubber literally sitting on it's butt up at MacKerricher State Park on the Mendocino Coast. Soaking up some rays and living the good (well-fed) life.

I was recently on the coast taking photos of friends surfing and playing in the water, and every once in a while some pelicans would cruise by giving me something new to aim at. That's when I saw this handsome couple gliding past. They are definitely awkward birds by design, but unique and beautiful in their own way.
"When you embrace your difference, your DNA, your look or heritage or religion or your unusual name, that’s when you start to shine." -Bethenny Frankel Remember that wildlife sanctuary photo shoot that I did recently? Here's another of my favorites. I still have a ton of photos to edit, and there are so many gorgeous animals I need to share with you, but this little guy was definitely a highlight. It was an amazing experience visiting the sanctuary. Even though humans and animals are vastly different, the connection that the two can have is pretty incredible.
"I think I'd like to be remembered as someone who really helped people to have a little humility and realize that we are part of the animal kingdom not separated from it." -Jane Goodall I shared a similar phot recently, which was actually taken the same morning as this one. You probably recognize a theme. The lighting and the smoky background was so gorgeous that I couldn't help but take a ton of photos. I'm sure I'll be sharing a bunch more, but this is definitely one of my favorites. Something about it hits me right in the feels...
"Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures." -Don McCullin |
