My father and I walked down near the tide pools at MacKerricher State Park, hoping to see some neat stuff. We arrived too late, however, and the tide was already up fairly high, so we were going to turn back around. Fortunately, before leaving we both looked down and right beside us was this big, beautiful starfish. We had both been so focused on the disappearing tide pools in front of us that we didn't immediately notice what was right beside us. A perfect metaphor if I ever heard one.
"Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it."
